Propane cylinders and combustible storage items fueled a large fire Monday morning at an industrial building in the Glassell Park area north of downtown Los Angeles.

A passer-by called 911 to report the fire at about 5 a.m. in the 3000 block of North Fierro Street. More than 140 firefighters responded to the fire, which sent thick smoke over the industrial business area.

A sign on the building identified it as Diamond Straw Inc. Firefighters said they were attempting to determine what kind of business is operating out of the metal building.
“[The fire] is being described as palletized storage, possibly wooden pallets,†said LAFD Spokesman Brian Humphrey.
No injuries had been reported. No homes were threatened by the fire.
At last report, the fire was knocked down. One report stated that arson investigators were already on scene.
