LOUISVILLE, Ky. —Fire investigators will be on the scene searching for the cause of a fire at a local food plant.
Crews with the PRP Fire Department responded to the Algood Foods plant at the corner of Trade Port Drive and Greenbelt Highway, just after 10 p.m. Sunday.
When they arrived, they found flames coming through the ceiling near the rear of the building.
The business manufactures and packages peanut butter.
“When it did, they heard a pop which started a fire inside the roaster. But as the ducting, which comes out the vent on the roof, it had a filtration system in it which had a secondary fire that poured out of the roof. Their extinguishing system went off, which contained the fire but did not extinguish it,†said Maj. Roger Milliner with the PRP Fire Department.
Crews battled the fire, which was isolated to a vent in the roof, for around 45 minutes.
No injuries were reported.
