HANSON – The Hanson Fire Department was battling a fire on West Washington Street Wednesday morning.
Hanson Fire Chief Jerome Thompson tweeted that the department is working to put out a “large log fire” at a wood chip plant.
Firefighters were using more than 1,000 feet of hose to fight the fire, according to a firefighter on scene. They were entering through the rear of Newcomb’s Tree Service off West Washington Street in Hanson.
A man who identified himself as the owner of the property asked an Enterprise reporter to leave Wednesday morning, saying it was private property.
Asked if it would be possible to speak with fire officials on scene, the man said no and declined to provide his name.
The Pembroke Fire Department is covering the Hanson station while crews work to put out the blaze.
