Employee hurt in fire at Sherwin-Williams plant in NC

GREENSBORO — One person was seriously hurt Thursday afternoon in a a flash fire at the Sherwin-Williams paint plant, according to the Greensboro Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to the plant at 2:09 p.m. when a flash fire involving a chemical broke out, said Battalion Chief Alex Gossett.A worker was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in serious condition, Gossett said.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze at the plant at 113 Stage Coach Trail within 10 minutes and no other injuries were reported, Gossett said.

Crews are still at the scene and the cause of the fire is under investigation, Gossett said.

The chemical fire does not pose an environmental hazard, according to Gossett.
