As many as 60 firefighters battled a large blaze at a Rogers County industrial manufacturing plant early Tuesday.
Firefighters were called to the UPCO manufacturing plant at 24403 Amah Parkway near Claremore about 3:20 a.m. Verdigris Fire Chief Mike Shaffer said.
Upon arrival crews saw heavy smoke and flames pouring from the large two-story plant, Shaffer said.
The fire was located on the west side of the plant near the office section of the building, he said.
Firefighters used caution while attempting to contain the fire due to the presence of flammable materials inside the structure, Shaffer said.
Fire companies from Catoosa, Claremore and Rolling Hills assisted at the scene.
No injuries were reported, firefighters said.
None of the 100 UPCO employees were inside the 140,000 square-foot plant when the fire started, Shaffer said.
“We are just thankful that nobody was hurt,” said UPCO managing director Daryl Harrington.
The plant will be closed while officials assess the damage, he said.
A cause of the fire has not been determined, officials said.
UPCO is the country’s only domestic sucker rod manufacturer, the company’s website said.
