NEWBERG, OR (KPTV) – Firefighters in Newberg are looking into what caused a fire at a newsprint factory.
The fire started around 8:15 Monday night at SP Fiber Technologies on Northeast Wynooski Road.
The Newberg fire chief said the two-alarm fire started in an area used to take ink off paper as they recycle the product.
The affected area was in a 6-acre warehouse that contained bales of paper that were 50 x 50 feet wide and 20 feet high.
The fire chief said it took the two crews two hours to get the fire under control.
As of 10:30 p.m., fire crews were in the process of removing the bales and getting more water to the main part of the fire.
One firefighter suffered minor injuries that were possibly heat related.
