Officials say four people were treated following injury from a fire that sparked at a diesel pump factory in the east.
Jacksonville Fire Marshall John Reed says that the fire started at Stanadyne at 425 White Street during the installation of a fire suppression system right around 3:30 Saturday afternoon.
Reed says that contractors had turned on a filtration system and soon thereafter says that it started smoking heavily.
4 people suffered smoke inhalation and were treated and released from the scene.
It’s the 11th fire to happen at that plant in the past 2 months, according to Reed.
The Jacksonville Fire Department arrived and was able to put out the flames.
Reed says that the plant is expected to be out of action for 3 days.
We’re told the filtration system is $74,000. On top of water and smoke damage, around $100,000 in damage was done.
According to Reed, the closure is estimated to cost the company around $250,000 per day.
