Industrial fire at Texas recycling facility

WAXAHACHIE — Multiple fire departments battled a stubborn blaze Saturday evening at Oak Cliff Recycling Inc. on Brown Industrial Road in Waxahachie.

Water supply was reported to be a problem, and that’s one reason why Waxahachie asked for mutual aid. Four tankers of water were dispatched to help keep the fire under control.

No injuries were reported at the plant at 500 Brown Industrial Road, five miles north of downtown Waxahachie.

According to its website, Oak Cliff Recycling collects and processes steel, iron, aluminum, brass, motors, and other metals from industrial clients and the general public.

Some of that material is what is said to be burning; the building itself was not involved.

There were no homes adjacent to the recycling plant, and no evacuations were ordered.

There were reports that smoke from the fire was drifting north into the southern Dallas-Fort Worth suburbs.
