DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Fire ripped through a tortilla factory in west Dallas on Monday, destroying a family business that had been in operation since 1924.
Police responded to the structure fire at Luna Tortillas, located at 8524 Harry Hines Boulevard, at 10:43 a.m.
Fernando Luna Sr., whose grandmother started the business in 1924, says the company will rebuild.
According to Dallas Fire-Rescue, a number of workers were in the building when the fire started. Fortunately, everyone was evacuated and no injuries were reported.
When first responders arrived, smoke was seen coming from the roof of the one-story building. Within minutes, flames broke through the roof line, forcing firefighters to take a defensive approach to contain the fire.
Crews were able to extinguish the fire and have begun sifting through the debris to locate and extinguish any remaining hot spots.
