FREEPORT, MI â€” Flames destroyed the Cheesebrough Corp. manufacturing company here early Thursday morning, drawing at least five departments to the scene on Division Street for hours.
At 6:30 a.m., Barry County dispatchers said Freeport firefighters were still on scene at the building, 260 Division St.
There were no injuries reported. Firefighters spent hours battling the fire, the dispatcher said.
Cheesebrough Corp. produces several varieties of wooden rakes and flagsticks used on golf courses, according to the company’s website.
It caters to a select group of clients, who appreciated the high-end, handcrafted quality of its products, the website said. The company got it start in the 1860s.
Firefighters were called to the scene at about 3:15 a.m. Thursday, March 28, and found the building well involved.
Freeport is located east of Caledonia.
