Crews take defensive apporach for commercial fire in OKC

UPDATE: Crews Extinguish Fully-Involved Commercial Fire in SW Oklahoma City

Oklahoma City fire crews extinguished a fire in southwest Oklahoma City. The fire sparked at Buddy’s Produce, on SW 2nd near Ellison, at about 6:15 Saturday evening.

“We went into a defensive mode immediately due to the fact that his building is unstable. It’s been vacant for several years and we’ve had several fires at this location,” deputy fire chief Marc Woodard said.

The fire department said one firefighter was hurt when the roof collapsed. He was transported to the hospital for treatment, but is expected to be okay.

Fire investigators will determine how the fire started and how much damage it caused.

We had report that smoke from the fire could be seen as far as Midwest City.
