Machine fire at UK cardboard-making factory

FIRE crews were called to a cardboard production factory in Louth following a blaze in one of the machines.

Firefighters were called at around 5am today to DH Smith, on Grimsby Road.

Crews from Louth and North Somercotes attended but staff at the factory had already put the fire out using factory extinguishers.

The cause was a build up of waste cardboard and dust in one of the machines.

No one was injured in the incident.

Louth firefighters also put out a blaze at a derelict property on Main Road, South Reston, near Louth at shortly after midnight.

A spokesman for the fire service said the fire had been started deliberately.
